Our History
We are a family business; in business for families.
Started rich in Swedish tradition and rooted deep in the Word of God, we work to build relationships with our customers as we make their dreams become reality.
Mattson Builders
In 1942, Grandpa Johnny Mattson built his first house from a kit purchased though the Sears & Roebuck catalog. This beautiful English Tudor home still stands in south Minneapolis. With his sweetheart Evelyn by his side, Johnny started Mattson Builders in 1943. For several decades Mattson Builders built 100's of homes for Minnesota families in Richfield, Minneapolis, and on the beautiful Minnesota River bluff in Bloomington.
Mattson Homes
On June 11, 1936 Johnny and Evelyn welcomed their son Dennis into their home. Denny learned the skills of the trade while working with his father. He continued the tradition and formed Mattson Homes in the early 70's, after Grandpa Johnny's retirement to Clear Lake. Denny and his crew continued to design and build quality homes until God called him into the Pastorate. He and his wife Phyllis moved to California in the early 80's and he became the Pastor of Finances at The First Baptist Church of La Crescenta.
D & R Construction
On October 18, 1944 Johnny and Evelyn's second son Rolland was born. Rollie grew up working with his dad and his big brother. At the age of 16, he was leading his own crew for Mattson Homes. After Denny's retirement, Rollie partnered with David Kummer and they formed D & R Construction. Together they continued to build homes in and around the twin cities area. During this time, Rollie's nephew, Mark Johnson joined the crew.
Quality and craftsmanship were always at the heart of every project. Rollie believed in keeping the job site clean and the customers happy. Attention to detail and quality was more important than getting the job done fast. Rollie never considered what he did a job, rather to him it was just his way of having fun.
Integrity Builders LLP.
In September 1983, Mark Johnson joined D & R Construction. Working with his uncle was a privilege and a dream come true. Construction was always what Mark wanted to do. Every job was an adventure and a way to serve the Lord.
Jesus was a carpenter who came to minister to the heart. Mark ministers to the heart through his carpentry. He has found many ways to use his God given gift to serve others. Projects have included: building a home for Camp Lebanon, building a Chapel for an orphanage in Honduras, and building the Worship Center for Oak Park Community Church. All three of these projects and others gave Mark the privilege to serve God and work side by side with uncle Rollie... Doing what they both love.
Rollie and Mark worked for several other companies until they partnered up with Daren Johnson and Jeff Fagerstrom to form Integrity Builders, LLP. Over time Daren and Jeff moved on, but Rollie and Mark remained partners. They go on to create a company that is indeed "A Cut Above The Rest." With plans to be in business forever, they hired men of skill and character to become part of their team.
Rollie and Mark had a tradition of giving the crew members new names as they joined the crew. This was just one way "Frankie" and "Billy" made every day a fun day to work for Integrity Builders. Other subcontractors appreciated working with Integrity Builders because the job was always done true, straight, and level. Integrity Builders has a tradition for being a neat crew as they pick up their job sites daily, sweep often, and actually put scraps in the dumpster instead of throwing them at the dumpster.
An Integrity job site is a great place to visit. The guys are always welcoming to homeowners and their guests. Many visitors comment on the atmosphere at Integrity job sites. The guys are friendly, the site safe, and KTIS is always playing on the company radio.
Working with uncle Rollie has been a great privilege for Mark for over 28 years. Mark and Rollie have faced many changes in the economy, building industry, and life's challenges. Through it all Rollie and Mark kept Integrity Builders a company to be proud of and work for. This past spring, Rollie was called home to be with his Lord in heaven. Now, he is building mansions in Heaven with Grandpa Johnny, Denny, and Jesus! Although this sudden death was unexpected, Mark will continue to trust in the Lord's plan for Integrity Builders.
With Rollie's home going, Mark could not continue Integrity Builders LLP. without a partner. Therefore, Integrity Builders Inc. was created in April 2011. In memory and honor of Rollie, Integrity Builders Inc. will continue to be "A Cut Above The Rest'.
Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
Integrity Builders Inc.
Mark's son Joshua grew up coming to the job site weekly. He dreamed of the day that he would officially join the crew. At age 4, he would be seen moving wood from one end of the job site to the other. Josh slept with his hammer, and his childhood portraits include tools, tool belts, and work benches. At age 5 he suffered his first construction accident when while helping his dad Mark build the shed, he nailed his foot to the floor with a power nail gun.
As a child he observed how hard his dad worked every day and dreamed of the day he would be riding to work with him in his truck. Summer of 2010, Josh started working for Rollie and Mark part time. Spring of 2011, part time went to full time as Josh became a full time employee for Integrity Builders Inc.
Let the family tradition continue...
